Thanks SK, I only eat like this on the weekends, because 1, those are the only days I have time to make a breakfast like this, and 2, I relax the diet a bit on weekends, too. I do have a crock pot, but I use it to make chili and 15 bean stew, etc. I'm not a fan of pot roast, London broils, brisket, etc. so I only really eat red meat when it's a nice steak. This is what I get for trying to buy steak on the cheap. This morning I had a 4-egg omelette with 4 strips of natural nitrite-free bacon, onions, bell peppers and a bit of cheese, with fresh fruit on the side. A 4-egg omelette is way too much, and I would have been happy with 2 or 3 strips of bacon. I think portion size is really where I've been getting myself into trouble.

Do you have a crock pot? Put your tough meat in there, cover it with water and let it sit all night. Then put in some garlic and onion about 10 min before you serve it. Maybe a *LITTLE* steak sauce. Wink Easy-peasy.

LOL.... It's better than the McDonald's, but be careful. You start out with relatively healthy meat and eggs, but once you load up on that butter and steak sauce, you've just sabotaged your meal big time. It's the sneaky condiments that'll get you, a lot of the time. Butter (and not just on top, you have to count the butter you greased your pan with), and you gotta look at the ketchup, steak sauces, teriyaki sauces, Mayo, and other toppings and see how many calories you're plopping on top. Ketchup has a cubic buttload of sugar. Mayo's a hundred calories per tablespoon. You do better putting on something with kick but not too many calories- like onion, horseradish, garlic.

My former housemate used to say, "McDonald's puts crack in their fries." Wink I understand the McDonald's thing, but here's a good trick: when you gotta have it, get a Happy Meal. They're now using a HALF of a small order of fries, along with an envelope of apple slices. The burger is smaller. The drink is smaller. That big sugary drink is a real calorie buster. Go for the Happy Meal; you can get your fix in a reasonable portion size. Finish filling your tank with a chicken breast when you get home (bake them ahead of time, then you can pop one in the microwave and have a healthy meal in two minutes).

Lol, I got a laugh out of " and my partner gets to think about his taxes and wonder if he turned off the oven before he left home" Once during training I was asked what I was spacing out on, and my reply was "halloween costumes" and I think it was probably around August when that happened.
