Crossfit fail

Had a wakeup call tonight.
Ive made tremendous progress with my fatigue issues, but tonight I got to see where I really am.

My girlfriend is doing crossfit with me and is 9 years younger than me, but she hasnt exercised in many many years. Completely sedentary.

Ive been doing jits for many years now so people dont consider me out of shape. Little do they know.

With that in mind....today we did a hard crossfit workout, and 2 of the exercises involved squats with the olympic bar/weights. Since we are beginners we only do the bar or a light PVC pipe.

She used a 35lb bar, and I only used the light PVC bar.

She creamed me, and it was nearly a 100% effort or my part. She creamed me USING weight, and I weigh a lot more than her so as a percentage of body weight she REALLY creamed me.

FUCK. I have less endurance than a sedentary girl, no offense to the girls here, but I am a man after all with those supposed physical advantages. Fuck fuck fuck.

Talked to my instructor and he said my fatigue had shattered my body for so many years I cant expect to be 100% healthy yet and to give it a full year of crossfit and see where im at after that.

My thoughts of competing soon just went out the window. Hate the idea of stepping onto a mat with a huge handicap like this. Sad Depressing.

It really speaks to the effectiveness of jiu jitsu though. I roll with blue belts that are cross fit monsters, that would put me to incredible shame in crossfit, and I still sub them on the mats. Amazing what a technical advantage can do.
