LONG FIRST ENTRY!
About me: I am 20. I started jiu-jitsu around a month ago. I came over from cycling. I was state mountain bike champion in 2004 and competed nationally. A series of events caused me to leave the sport.(I still cycle but only as cross training for BJJ) In 2005 I was decending a mountain at 35-40mph and I hit a concrete crack int he road. I can't remember what happened but my brother described the accident. I flipped forward and landed on my shoulder and face. I skidded on my face and shoudler then came to a rest completely out. I woke up and saw my family and a pool of my blood running down the street. I was rushed to a hospital. I had no broken bones because I was limp when I fell. I had lost a lot on skin on my shoudler. I had a concussion and the next day I had two black eyes. After the accident I was unable to train for a while because of the injuries. Even after that what mainly made me lose interest in cycling was the doping scandals and seeing my childhood heroes confess to cheating. I lost interest completely after the 2007 Tour de France.

I started watching the UFC while spinning indors when it was raining. I took particular interest in jiu-jitsu. I trained some with my friend who's 210lbs and an Army Lt. That only taught me how effective / painful jiu-jitsu was. After some searching I found a small dojo in town and I signed up for 3 days a week and have only missed one class since I started going. I really enjoy BJJ and my first tournament is this Saturday.
I am 6'1" and 145lbs I have strong long ass legs from cycling so I get a ton of body triangles. I also love the guilotine choke. Starting in January I will be training at a Relson Gracie BJJ Academy in Austin. Until then my dad lettered in wrestling in high school and is going to help me work on my takedowns /defense this winter. I can't wait to compete. Everyone in my gym is at least a middleweight most are heavyweights so it will be interesting to see how I do aganist someone around my size.

Peace out
