[  Mood: Happy ]
After a month of training in BJJ, after every single class i come straight to this forum and resist the urge to start a new topic abotu how, what, when things happen in the recent class. if i posted as many topics as i had questions i would get banned for spamming.

I decided to create this blog to share my feeling and thoughts on being a brand new jiu jitsu practitioner.

I would like to start my journey wiht you all on the (im in australia so my dates are different o you guys in the usa) i startd on the 10th of june so 10/06/11.

What they say is true about starting any new endeavour of your life, going through the door is the hardest part and believe me for me it was very hard.

I was in ym car at the gym ont he dya of my first class. my palms where sweating i had so much anxiety about wlaking through the door, my heart was close to palpatating. Finally working up th courage to get out of my car grab my bag and go inside those feelings amplified, to my relief there was the intructor Daniel sitting at his desk and all he did was smile say hello and introduced himself as the instructor.

I got changed into my gi for the first time and stepped onto the mats, i was paired up with a guy and it was only his secodn class so we were both very novice.

I learnt a gaurd pass and a gaurd escape before ahvign algiht roll for my first class. I was hooked.

now after eachclass i go home and revwie the movements. the little thinsg that make jiu jitsu so much easier.

I cna tell it is working and what i am drilling and rolling in class is stickign somewhere in my brain because when it comes to roll i can do the things i have learnt not yet to a greta level of ease but the fundamentals of the movements are there, like bridging and hip escapeing keeping the arm tucked in just fundamental things are starting to happen naturally now after amonth of training.

Todays Class was the most mixed class of students ive ever been in. most times there is about 10-15 people mayeb one or two blues the rest are all whites. today we had a black a 4 stripe purple a 3 stripe blue female a couple of other blues and soem whites.

We started off by drilling closed guard to spider guard transition, i must say i do like spiderguard it makes em fell liek i have more control over my opponent. out of all the techniques i have learnt so far i have picked that one up the easiest.

There was also the de la riva guard but i think im not advanced enough to try that one so i just drilled it and probably wont use it for a while in the roll. we also did a sweep from spider guard.

now my for my favourite part the rolling. i rolled with a 3 stripe white belt this guy is really good me ive seen him in class heaps just enevr had the chnace to roll with him, but what made me feel like i am finally getting it is when we transition i dont just lay there and think of what to do my body just started natural flowing into the escapes and transitions that we hve learned i dont try to go for submissions yet either, i feel that getting the good technique first is moreimportant if i cnat keep a guy in my guard why botehr tryign to submit him? what i do try to do is have a goal for each class to get the positions that we drilled so todya my goal was to trasition to spider guard and i got there.

I really love this sport it is beautiful to watch and an honour to learn there are so many technical aspects of each transition that writing it down ina blog may hope to cement it in my mind that when i hip escape my ass has to be off the floor entirely and that when i want to move move my head because th ehead controls the body.

So after a month of training after about 12 or so hours of mat time this is where i am at

i still have a long way to go.

my journey
