I'm not heavily tattooed but I do have serveral and plan to get more.
I was thinking of getting a BJJ themed tattoo and started looking on the net for some ideas.

Anyone out there have a BJJ tattoo and have a pic to post? I'm curious to see. _________________ CWH

I have two that I have been kicking around but haven't pulled the trigger on yet. The octopus that I'm thinking about would be a whole ribs with the tentacles coming up over the shoulder and wrapping around my shoulder. The right bicep I am keeping clean until I get my BB and then I will have the school logo tattooed on there. I am obviously waiting a few years for that one.
My current project is my left leg. I just completed part one of five last month and I have another appointment for Aug. 10th for part two. Basically doing Celtic leg armor on both of my lower legs. Eventually it will go all the way up the legs.
Baby steps though, for now I just have a giant chunk of the outside lower left leg done. In a couple weeks the inside part will be finished up. _________________ Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlos Gracie Junior > Ryan Gracie > Fabio Leopoldo > mofo

I am heavily inked and I'm running out of room to do big pieces at this point unless I start inking my legs, which I just never wanted to do for some reason. _________________

I am doing my whole right arm when I get my black belt. I want a piece that will incorporate a belt and "FAIXA PRETA" as well as the kenji symbol for jiu-jitsu probabl. I primarily want it on the back on my tricep but am also contemplating doing like a half sleeve piece for it. Well see how it gets designed when it gets done. I just know it will have to be able to be covered by a shirt because of my career. I have a very sick tattoo artist for a friend who is willing to do it for me. I am not 100% sure what it will look like, I just know that when I see it I will know that that is it.
ANd then probably to balance out I may do something on the other arm. But I still have PLENTY of time to worry about it... I think - _________________ "The rest of you can go to HELL! ... I am going to train jiu-jitsu in TEXAS!"

Just be sure to double and TRIPLE check all Japanese Kanji with someone who is a native Japanese speaker and is fluent, its VERY easy to get that wrong and end up with an incorrect character set for what you intend it to mean. _________________

Oh I know. I figure that the jiu-jitsu kanji is out there enough to where I should be alright. _________________ "The rest of you can go to HELL! ... I am going to train jiu-jitsu in TEXAS!"

I work in the financial industry where things are uber conservative. I wear pants when I play golf with my coworkers so they don't see my tattoos. I keep my tattoo work above the short sleeves on the arms. On occasion a tattoo might pop out a little (inside of my left bicep I have a rather large Celtic knot that's very colorful and hence noticeable), but for the most part I keep my ink where nobody can see if at work. One of our Product Managers has full sleeves so every day at work he has to wear full dress shirts and I enjoy the ability to relax and wear a polo shirt to work on occasion (on a day that I have no meetings with clients). This is the reason I enjoy going a little crazy with getting my legs done. It's also huge areas to use big bold tattoos. Not quite like the back, but some tattoos that need more space than the arms work great on the legs. _________________ Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlos Gracie Junior > Ryan Gracie > Fabio Leopoldo > mofo

All I can say is, stay away from team tattoos... Things happen, and that might not always be your team. _________________ I'm a girl. And, yes. I kick butt.

So true, my wife (originally from china) often rofl's at tattoos on people we walk by in the streets. A common mistake is tattooing what they think is the animal sign for rooster, but instead only get the generic "hen/rooster/chicken"-character and no qualifier-character so it could just as easily be chicken. Which then is the chinese slang for prostitute. Now, that, is a tramp stamp _________________ http://www.bergengrappling.com

| I've been wanting one, but finding the spot and making it blend in with my future plans and current pieces is the problem. I feel like it would have to be a stand alone piece, which is reserved for limited spots (wrist, foot, ankle, hip) - places I'm not really huge fans of. |

Nobody says you need to get them on your arms or other obvious places. I enjoy getting my legs done. Sure it's a little more painful, but I can be discreet about when and where I wear shorts. When I'm going nogi or at the gym working out I can show them off. Beach time, surfing, etc., perfect. Golf with clients, I can wear trousers and I look clean cut and professional.
I'm 43 and I love getting tatts. My wife and kids dig 'em too. _________________ Mitsuyo Maeda > Carlos Gracie Sr. > Carlos Gracie Junior > Ryan Gracie > Fabio Leopoldo > mofo
