I love jiu-jitsu. Mr. Green

Then Fedor says in this interview: "Jiu-Jitsu is nothing special. I lost by coincidence".

Yes, it was just a "coincidence" that Werdum spent a decade learning to apply the triangle/armbar combination.

I watched it again.... Werdum fell down only because he lost his balance.

Then fedor made the HUGE mistake of diving straight into a BJJ world champions guard.

Then he acts surprised that he got submitted and makes excuses.

Fedor lost because he made an error. Simple as that. He wont make that error again. He could beat Werdum if he didnt play to Werdums strengths.

When the emperor finally lost, it was cool that it was BJJ that took him out mosh

It is hard for me to tell if he lost his balance or was knocked off balance. It happens so fast. But the way he frikin locked onto Fedor with the arm.. and then the triangle.. lots of guys would have busted out of that. Good thing it was early and they were dry.. but he had that position super tight.

Everyone makes mistakes, even the greats. Clearly Werdum didnt control his hand @1:35 and Fedor could have pulled out but didnt and thats why he got caught. He gift wrapped the submission for Werdum. But boy was it a pretty triangle.

Fedor also says that you must fall to learn to get back up and thats the mark of a real champion.

Watch the slow mo... looks like he might have landed the first punch.... but then Werdum started swinging.... only until later when he suddenly stood way up and threw his own head waaaay back to avoid an uppercut (or something), did he find himself totally off balance and fell to his butt.

Then Fedor dives in.... bad bad move. A tactical error that cost him.

As english is not Fedor's first language i believe we are reading far to much into the word "coincidence." It means he made an accident. Which he did. I'm sure he would not fall for the same thing in the future.

He is right, jiu jitsu is nothing "special" It is something that works, just like muay thai and sambo. Its not special but it does work.

I wager you are correct. He is a matter of fact, calculating cyborg after all.

Hmmm.... Considering the mind boggling number of CRAP martial arts out there, I would actually say:

"Jiu jitsu, muay thai and sambo are VERY special" Mr. Green
(would throw in wrestling, boxing and judo)

I thought this was pretty interesting. Werdum commentates the fight.

Ok, I'm done posting vids! Wink

Werdum is the man. Don't know if the same outcome would happen twice though.
