DAMN. Poor Travis. I havent felt this bad for a fighter in a long time.
The dude just looked so depressed walking towards the ring. (since he didnt make weight)
He looked totally broken. He had no heart to fight.
I cant believe how easily he got Silva to the ground though
He got the guard pass, full mount, but he looked sooo damn tired from cutting all that weight, and then blew it with a pathetic sloppy arm bar.
You could tell the weight cut really affected him.
Then getting caught in a triangle and elbowed to death. He tapped to the elbow strikes which looked kinda illegal to me. Really walking the line.
Straight down elbow strikes are illegal ya know.
Seems like its to your benefit to cheat in the UFC or really push the line, because at worse, you will just get a warning and thats worth the damage you dish to your opponent.
But damn, I just feel so bad for travis.
Silva proved he has some ground skills too. That upkick was wicked too!
Well...back to the fights!!! Later... _________________ New to this site? Please review the rules

I could not believe that Silva's elbows to the top of Lutter's head were allowed.
Striking downward using the point of the elbow is prohibited.
I'm tired of seeing fighters make illegal moves with impunity. We saw the same thing last month with Arlovski/Pe de Pano. It does no good to have rules if there are no consequences for breaking them.
The only thing worse than the illegal elbows was Joe and the gang towing to company line to avoid the appearance on any impropriety. That, and calling it a submission. Lutter tapped because of the elbows, not the triangle choke.
Some guys are saying that the eblows were not straight down, so that makes it ok.
I disagree, the word "down-WARD" in the rule book does not mean "straight down". The "-ward" on the end loosens the definition of "down" to encompass at least some angles.
Andersens elbows were "downward" and therefore I think illegal. No, not perfectly straight down, but still downward. He would have won anyway I think, but im sick of refs not penalizing fighters for BS. Enforce the rules or get rid of them!
If the Lutter I knew had showed up he would have won the fight. He was never that defeated mentally and physically during any of the TUF fights from cutting weight. He was so pale and so drained he looked like a vampire bit him.
Even on his worst day Lutter took Silva down with ease and nearly finished him with strikes. Styles make fights and somebody like Lutter is going to beat Silva. It just wasn't Lutter's day.
I'm glad I didn't bet. I would have been pissed if I lost my money to illegal elbows.
He was so pale and so drained he looked like a vampire bit him.
Thats a good way of describing him that night _________________ New to this site? Please review the rules

...elbows don't submit...
he was done once Silva threw the triangle dude. The illegal elbows were like, just disrespect i think. Legal elbows woulda done the same anyways. _________________ Spiritual Version:

Lutter was doing fine with the triangle. He had his arm up as defense and Silva wasn't getting anywhere with it. If you think people don't submit due to taps, keep watching.
Lots of fights have ended with people submitting to strikes. It actually gets recorded that way.
"Submission (Strikes)" - appears under many a fighters record.
Lutters loss is not recorded as a "submission (triangle)" _________________ New to this site? Please review the rules

yeah, well, it seems like Silva stooped kinda low with those, i mean, he could've forced the tap with legal elbows easily from the triangle...
maybe he was just annoyed that Lutter couldn't even make the weight... _________________ Spiritual Version:

I don't see it that way. Look at the video above. He spent the first two minutes trying to get him with a combination of the triangle and legal strikes but he couldn't do it. Then he switched to those illegal elbows and won within seconds.
I think Silva would have won anyway. If Lutter escaped he would have been exhausted. Heck, he was exhausted before the fight even started. Then again, you never know?
yeah that's true, the move down sucked him dry i think... but idk, it did seem like a crappy thing to do, i mean, he's the champion, if he doesn't know the rules... wtf _________________ Spiritual Version:
