I've learned so many techniques, it's a shame to forget them after time. I used to go for a single leg takedown at the ankle in the past but I find myself shooting for doubles more often now. So what's your favorite/most effective takedown?
I like to shoot between the legs and takedown to the side. Although I think the single leg at the ankle was more effective
For BJJ if the guy is grabbing my lapel and stalling, then the runaway double leg, only if he's not a wrestler though. _________________ Answer: Just go to class
High Crotch to whatever. I like the ones Jacare was using sometimes too. _________________ "Because in the end there are no medals there are no victories there is just jiu jitsu. its a lifestyle baby." - ImaJitsAddict
I learned an awesome technique in a Shaolin class where you put your foot beside the other person's foot, your knee on the opposite side of their knee (so your shin and the other person's shin form an "X") and then just lean/lunge into the other person to buckle the leg. It works from almost any angle, with almost no effort involved as long as the positioning is correct.
I'm dying to try this in BJJ- but unfortunately, on the rare occasions so far when I've been in a class where standup was involved, the BJJ people all grab hold of me, lean their upper bodies into me and angle their feet away. Since I am much shorter than any of them, this means I can't reach their feet at all.
(Somebody please enlighten me if this move is illegal in BJJ! I think many of my Shaolin takedowns are going to be legal except for the ones that involve kicking... and some of those, I can modify so that the kick turns into a push. I can't wait to do some more standup, but that doesn't seem to be a large part of the curriculum here.)

I don't see how the one you described is going to be "illegal" I just think it might be ineffective due to the poster used in BJJ.
