I agree with a friend of mine that to claim "he's on steroids" is just the male version of "her tit's are fake". Just a way of claiming that you can only look that good with help. Just a way to build ourselves up because we don't look like that.
I know I'm not that ripped... no problem, steriods or not, put them in a gi and I'll take them. Jiu-Jitsu is what I care about, so that's where I put my effort. Perhaps if I put the same effort into looking ripped as I do in Jiu-Jitsu I could look like that. Jiu-Jitsu alone keeps me looking good enough though.
Gym Jones knows what he is doing. Get a sample workout from that site (if they have some) and try them out. I do these types of exercises, makes hard physically and mentally.
Most of their training comes from compound movements. Exercises such as sandbag training, sledge hammer training, rope climbing, generally hardcore stuff. You do not need three days of rest per week to not over train. What you need is a period of slight over training for about three weeks (1 rest day/week) then a back off week with each day moderate to light training and then back into the hardcore stuff. This makes the body "over compensate" for the over training and you end up getting more out of what you did then you normally would have with consistent, monotonous training.
Check out "www dot rosstraining dot com". I bet most of you will like it.

I agree that they don't look like they were on Steroids.
They had 4 months to get in shape, and focus on nothing else but looking the part for the movie. I imagine if we all quit our jobs (or study), had a personal trainer, personal chief, and the promise of being paid $100k for a part in a major Hollywood movie that we too could have looked similar to those guys (the only difference being the little sparta boys would have gotten a whipping when we took the fight to the ground ).
There are about a dozen guys that go to my local gym that have a similar level of bodyfat to the sparta boys, but are a lot more muscular.
Time, money, personal trainer, the right diet and the motivation (ie getting paid) is all it would take.
