#1 |
Hi, My name is Ross, I'm a white belt about a year and a half into jujitsu counting the numerous layoffs for health/ money/ laziness. I built a website (not really built, I just plugged the wiki software in and started working on it), Jujitsupedia.com, with the long term, pie in the sky goal of it becoming a receptacle for the world's jujitsu knowledge (at least what can be typed out). I know there is a lot of info out there on great forums like this and on youtube, but it's all disjointed and hard to string together, which is why I think the wiki setup would work perfectly for it. I did this because I think it's ridiculous that with all of this grappling knowledge out here and the fact that the sport is populated by people who love to teach that there is no central database you can go to learn what the sport is all about.
It's silly that I see people coming into my gym (and I'm sure you all see this) all the time who are really interested in bjj enough to make that leap, but don't know what the words guard or mount or side control mean. I've seen some of these people get into it and become hardcore jujitsuers and others not come back after a single class, but all of them would have enjoyed their first class a lot more with a basic understanding of the sport.
Not trying to spam for clicks or anything, as you can plainly see there are no ads on the site, I just really want any help you guys would be willing to offer in building this. Otherwise it will just be me and anyone dumb enough to trust my knowledge will end up getting smashed on the mat |

Oh man, you should put together an advertising plan. Talk to this guy, he should give you some marketing advice privates for $5,000 an hour.

LOL, seriously though, it sounds like a great idea. I hope it takes off. A centralized website for the entire BJJ community would be really cool. The logistics of organizing said infomation would be hard though, no? |

The Wiki media software has been installed here for years.
Even integrated the log in with the forum.
People dont use it... errr... dont add to it.
Its not easy getting people to grow a wiki. Most wont take the time to learn the wiki code. _________________ New to this site? Please review the rules

Wow, he can get me a black belt in three years? That's super fast! he must be a great teacher.
I didn't see the wiki on this site before I posted this, sad to see it doesn't get any use.
The organization issue is why I thought the wiki software would really work for Jujitsu |
