Anyone do it? Anyone have results with it. I just started doing it, and was wondering if anyone else has had success with it.

I just did some quick google searching and this is most definitely a marketing scam / pyramid scheme designed to take advantage of people.

Do P90X or Insanity if you want to try some super intense workout plan, anything not based on a money scam is probably fine to put some effort into.

It's a diet plan / marketing scheme that targets the "get thin quick" crowd.

I'm not a fan of pyramids, I've had enough people approach me telling me they know of "a way a talented fellow such as myself could double his income" and then proceed to pitch me any number of things, from an "internet mall" to just straight up Amway. I actually know people who make a good living that way, but it's not for me. I could never just approach someone and pitch that $#!%. It's not my style.

My wife on the other hand... She deals in DoTerra oils (pyramid), before that it was "StampinUp" (pyramid) and at one point there was some sort of Jewelery thing she was doing. She has a system that makes it work out, basically she has a little crew of friends who will buy into this stuff, and she gets them committed after which she gets her monthly orders "free"- meaning her expense gets recouped (or nearly recouped) It's a hobby for her, and there are social implications as well. She went to a big event for the DoTerra thing last fall.

Body by Vi is the latest thing she is trying to get me to agree to buy into.

This is a mistake on her part, because I'm what you could call a "huge critic" of these types of programs. After all, I dropped 40lbs without gimmicks- just diet and exercise.

I'm not going to say it "doesn't work", since it does basically simplify your nutrient intake by removing the "work" of calculating how much of what nutritious foods you should eat- It works a lot like Weight Watchers with the added bonus of letting you recoup your expense by drawing others into your "business".

I will say that if you develop a solid weekly activity plan, learn to watch what you eat, and how much, and stay off the couch the results you will see will be equally as miraculous as if you become a shake eater.

Products like Body By Vi prey upon people who feel helpless in their situation. They dangle an "easy way" and it will work, but only to an extent. Once people who don't understand how their diet effects their bodies come off of a shake diet they put the weight back on because they never developed the habits required to keep it off.

This is why I'll fight buying into this one, not because it's a pyramid, but because I don't want to perpetuate the sham of "get thin quick" programs.

on the other side of this- the DoTerra oils have a product called "deep blue rub" and that stuff works! It's for muscle soreness and I have been using it for about a year now to great effect. If you are older like me and don't recover as fast you should look into it... In fact I know someone that can help you out... LoL

in Pyramid speak it has a huge rate of return- meaning the "get rich quick" happens quicker. Were I a pro fighter, calling them a "sponsor" would be quite a money-making enterprise. I'm not sure if that is what Mike Fowler is doing, but it would make sense as a means to raise cash if you operate in the fitness world.

yup. he also posted on facebook that he wanted 3 serious people to help him with a business venture.

i messaged him and he replied and when i asked how it was different from every other pyramid scheme, he said it wasn't really, but it was helping people.

and i bet it is. but it's a freaking scam. cmon now.

and the shakes are SO overpriced. I can replicate it on www.truenutrition.com perfectly for roughly 10% of what they charge.

He also had brandon vera trying to get people involved too.

this type of stuff drives me crazy.

agree with Noodles 100%. change your lifestyle and you'll get results.

go for the quick fix, and you'll get a quick, transient result.

I know the entire business portion is a scam. I have no interest in selling to people, etc...It's hard not to see that its a giant pyramid scheme.....

What I'm asking about is the product itself.

the results were somewhat posted above. it's basically a shake that has necessary nutrients and vitamins. you can replicate it cheaper with food, protein shakes, and vitamins.

and by going the VI way with it, it's easier, but you pay a TON for it.

I get sick of seeing these marketing schemes. While what I have seen of the results look pretty good, the fact that it is like $250 a month(if i was reading it correctly) is just completely insane.

My wife got suckered into this Body by VI by one of our friends. Noodles post above mirror my position as well.

When I reviewed the ingredients, they don't seem any different than my protein drink powder. I actually considered replacing my whey protein powder with the shake from VI. Their product is much smoother than my protein powder. Anyway, I considered it UNTIL I realized the cost difference. No way I will pay the considerable price difference JUST to have a smoother shake. I am way too lazy here and mix my protein powder with water, with a spoon. Hence... lumpy protein drink.

Like some of the others have said, you can get results with this - but at a cost that I cannot justify.

Tabata + Chocolate Milk + Multi Vitamin = Body By Vi for 1/10th the price.

Seriously. It's bullshit.

Serious question for everyone in this thread. Why is protein powder so popular in the first place?

^ beacuse it's difficult to meet protein requirements with the convenience and cost of protein powder.

Right...but wouldn't protein powder be a weight gainer? I mean I get it if you're trying to put on lots of beach muscle for the ladies. And do you guys honestly see any results?

I actually used it to lose weight

My protein intake goals are 60% of the daily value of the foods I consume. I need to do this while maintaining a 1700 calorie intake.

I can't think of a possible way to accomplish my nutrient goal, while staying within my calorie goal without using a supplement (protein powder).

I get 30g Protein from a 130 cal serving (35g) of my current shake. 4g carbs, 1g of fat.

To answer your question on results, here is a before and after...

size 34 shorts I bought 2 years ago... need a belt to keep em on now.

Agree with Noodles. I have absolutely seen the benefits of a whey protein shake drink right after I workout, and first thing in the a.m.

I count nothing (calories, carbs, or even meals) because I am too lazy. I added the whey protein drinks after reading some great articles in Jiu Jitsu Magazine.

I'm down 20+ pounds by BJJ 3 times a week on a diet with lower carbs / higher protein with the need to limit saturated fats.

I could not find a way to meet my protein goals without adding protein supplements. My body certainly seems to appreciate the added protein.

Alright, see that makes good sense to me. So in your opinion the powder helps, with a good diet / exercise. What kind of powder do you take, if you still are? What about all of this creatine and muscle milk business I keep seeing everyone else slam down after training?

i have a custom mix from TrueNutrition.com

http://www.truenutrition.com/p-1019-team-skip-formula-1lb.aspx

I use my own code BRD231 to save a little bit when I order. It'll save you a little bit if you order from them.

Great flavoring options and a very good amino acid profile. And way cheaper since you aren't paying for advertising (which they don't do).
