Perfect structure and tightness shuts everything down.
Im a big believer in the Roger method.

Although I do some stuff that some consider fancy, because it just seems easy to me.... basics basics basics work on everything.

Fancy stuff should just be icing on the cake. The elite of the elite all have the most perfect core fundamentals.

Every class I attend or give I do a set of hip escapes and other basic movements. People comment on my flexibility but I am not that flexible at all, just know how to keep my hips free very well. This is the absolute basics of jiu jitsu imo, who controls the other guys hipmovement, has the control.

Draculino used to be known for his excelent guard in his competition days. But apparently his guard passing is very top notch as well. I guess thats what happens when you train with guys like Nino and Roleta every day. And I think with age it becomes harder to have a good flexible guard, but easier to play a tight top game. Although Draculino is in excelent shape.

I was going to title this thread.... "I like how the old man rolls"
Then I realized I was 3 years older than Drac ROFL

His peppered hair threw me off Smile

Lol, he's a great guy though. He was there when I got my purple belt. I had never seen him before but Remco Pardoel recommended I'd get my purple belt to him. He seemed like a genuine guy, and very upbeat. Didnt get to roll with him though.

Drac is da man. Ive heard really great things about him from people who directly know him. And he is a featherweight. Those super light guys are always so technical because they have to be.
