I suggested someone do this over in this thread, and as someone has recently bumped it, I thought I might as well start things off. I've set up a map here.
That means if anyone wants to meet up and train with other people on here, they can get themselves added to that map. Post in this thread with your details (as much or as little as you want to add: I'd suggest forum name, location, club website, rank and contact details), and I'll stick you on there.
Presuming people like the idea, I'm probably not going to have time to get round to entering everything quickly if a lot of people post, so if anyone wants to help, let me know and I'll add you as an admin to the map (can have as many on there as we want, I think). Could even embed the map somewhere on this site.
Google Maps are very easy to use: you just type in your location, save it to the map, then edit the placemark by clicking on it. The 'HTML' bit means you can put pretty much anything in there, so pictures and the like will work too. Only problem is that once you get to over 150 placemarks or so, they start spilling over onto the next page: the map can only display placemarks from one page at a time. There is a way you can get them to cluster, but I don't (yet!) understand the API. Something on the todo list once my PhD is finished.
If I take my entry as the example, the format I'd suggest is something like this (my understanding of HTML is very limited, so I'm sure the code here is pretty shoddy):

Presuming this does take off, should be very useful for planning US training trips! I've got a map for the UK, incidentally, although like I said, it has that problem of going into two pages now. There is a Blogger Map too, if any other bloggers happen to be reading (or indeed I can cross-post you, like I did with Kintanon).

HILTI JKL FC is a school I train and teach some. Proeliator jiu-jitsu is my own schools that i teach regularly. SO basicly I go to all of them just as much...  |

No probs: hopefully Jack will pitch in with his thoughts (obviously I'd be wanting to add him as a collaborator on the map).
