I started with thinking I’ll train at ATOs but now I’m thinking about training with Cobrinha. I know both are good but if anyone has trained with both of them and can give some insight on the differences of both gyms?

I don’t know how big Cobrinha’s organization is. One thing about ATOS is they have affilliates all over, so if you travel much you might find other schools to train at. I have trained at one ATOS affiliate and was more than satisfied with my experience. I haven’t talked to anyone that trained at an ATOS gym and was unhappy with their training.

Cobrinha is Alliance, a much bigger organization. So even more affiliates all over the country.

I would choose based on which local school I liked best though. Far more important, unless you are planning on being a full time jiu jitsu professional.

It would depend on where I was at or traveling to… I have trained with both Galvao and Cobrinha (both come from the same lineage of the old TT days).

While Galvao does have more of my “style” of game – Cobrinha taught me more. I have trained with Cobrinha a handful of times over the years – 3-4 privates with him even – and each time I came back with about 8-10 pages of notes.
I even have a hand written note from him (not many know this) that he picked up my training log and wrote in it while I wasn’t looking and a I found later.
The guy is just top notch on all facets and is my number 2 favorite BJJ guy of all time (My first being his original mentor Terere)
That being said – ATOS HQ is arguably the top competitive training school in the world. So many killers under one roof at all times – its true when they say iron sharpens iron – and that place is an armory.
If we are talking local schools and not the HQs… well then I would say go try both and see which one has an instructor and class structure that fits you.
