hahahahaha I wouldn’t know – I have never personally met him.

However – one of his first starting strength coaches – Andy Baker – who co-authored Practical Programming for strength training is here in Houston and I actually did my strength and conditioning with him for my last full competition season back in 2011. He’s awesome.

That’s awesome. I was 265 at my heaviest. Even had a 4 pack when flexing. I was huge but getting no attention from the women. My face gets chubby at that bodyfat level.

Though my knees would hurt sprinting at 265, couldn’t do it. 210 I can run my heart out.

Thanks guys – we are putting in a lot of effort right now in the beginning. The goal was to build a place that sells itself. Basically if you enjoy lifting either casually OR to be competitive in either Powerlifting or other strength sports – then we would be the premier gym in Houston to do so. There are a few other gyms in the greater Houston area that are similar to us – but none of them are on our level in terms of overall quality and feel is what our goal was.

Hopefully we will meet our goal!

You mind asking a rough estimate of the cost of all the equipment (not rent, etc, just equipment itself)?

Some of it we have leased (with a buyout basically a finance), and the rest of it we have bought… I would say overall equipment only right now we are somewhere in the $25K range. The best equipment is expensive…  #:-S

But to be honest its not the equipment – its all the little things that add up that are annoying.
We knew going into it we had 2 options – either find cheap equipment we can make do with and then attempt to sell the gym on us and our training to people and then upgrade later – OR – spend the money upfront and the time and effort to make the place as you can see – and have the gym sell itself. We are confident that once you step into our place and get a training session in – you will never look at another gym (commercial or otherwise) the same – because you will know what it SHOULD be.
