Okay, well it's been like, a year, into bjj, and I'm finally feeling my ears becoming tender and the tips have ached/burned a bit after training.

As much as I HATE THE IDEA of wearing headgear AND I MEAN HATE, I HATE CAULI EAR EVEN MORE. I'm a girl, so I don't think to many guys are going to find it attractive...and NIETHER DO I.

And I DO NOT want to go through ear draining.

Any suggestions ASAP on where to find good headgear, and any specfic recomandtions for ones that don't look TOO stupid and are the most comfortable?

/end rant

My parents don't think so. So it's get one or quit BJJ. And to someone who doesn't do BJJ, I don't think it would look that good.

But seriously, I need recommendations..

Those ear guards look ok, check out www.fightersmarket.com, they have a few more options.

To be honest, even though I am into BJJ I wouldn't find cauliflower attractive.

Thank you...for actually replying to my topic, and not the color commentary inside it alone. And I agree.

what do you think of this?

Does it matter soft shell or hard shell? Soft shell seems like it wouldn't fit well or stay put...

Ice your ears asap. Just had my ears drained for the first time 2 weeks ago. Stupidly I didn't start wearing ear-guards right away, just rested 5 days. Went back training without them, and during drilling bruised them, during rolling, got kneed a couple of times. Then upon leaving class went straight to the sporting goods store and brought ear-guards. Rolled a few times on first day and it wasn't that bad ,
felt alittle hotter. But some guys told me to make sure it was snug,to prevent getting loose during rolls. Ice really helped. I'm not concerned that about how I look, but my ears were hurting from getting kneed. Probably will wear them until the bruising and tenderness goes away.If my daughter injured her ears I'd want her to wear them.
By the way, better to prevent them from happening. Even when the ears are drained, mostly they look different then before the injury. Also I learned to tap more
with guillotines. 🙂

Ya those look good. Soft shell is more form fitting but offer less protection, hard shells are normally bulkier but offer the most protection which would be my choice.

And I'm a small person, do you think this one would fit? As in would it be too big for my head, not the straps, but the pads? This is the one I really think I'm gonna get.

P.S: You're helping me so much today, you should charge! 😆

It is hard to say if it will fit or not because it is one size fits all. It could be a little big but still workable, you could order them and return them if you really need to, but I think they will be fine.

Thanks for all your help, I'm a headguard noob. xD
I'll be ordering those tomorrow, maybe I'll right a review when I get them.

As a former wrestler in High School and a BJJ practitioner, I would highly recommend this type of headgear:

Matman - Halo Wrestling Headgear

It is inexpensive, low profile, and doesn't look like you're wearing headphones on the mat.
